VMware Player

I am happy to say that I have installed the new VMware Player, and it works quite well.  Although I have full VMware and Virtual PC, it's nice to know that I can send someone a VPC and know they can use it, on a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Linux or Windows, and not worry about what software or OS type they have.  I took an existing Virtual PC image, and it ran fine out of the box.

The player is not perfect - it's just a player, so you can't make new machines (although it seems like that wouldn't be that hard to do by hand), and you have limited undo functionality.  But it's better than nothing, and it's free!

Exchange 2003 SP2 - it's soup

The title refers to the timeless question, "is it soup yet?"  And yes, it is - Exchange 2003 SP2 is now out!  Go get it... although of course you don't want to be the first on the block to install it.  Let us do that, then pay us to install it for you ;)

VS 2005 available to MSDN on Friday

OK, check this out - the official release of Visual Studio 2005 is in weeks, but we get it on FRIDAY!!!!!!!

Check it out: Bink broke the news to me, but that really just points us to Channel 9.  So, it's from a real MS site, so it's a sure thing!  Yeehaa!

(Edit 2005-10-17 19:34) It didn't happen.  I would have expected that a Channel 9 source would be worthy, but I guess not.  Actually, to be fair, if you read that post, you'll see that the delay is due to a last-minute quality issue, and the delay could be until Tues or Wed, or it could be up to a couple of weeks.  Just need to keep an eye on it.

PDF in Office 12

Microsoft announced yesterday that Office 12 will support PDF as an output format.  You can find out more at their PressPass posting.  This is a good thing!
